An urgent investigation has been launched after the Russian president personally discovered major security flaws at a railway station in Moscow.
It came as Dmitry Medvedev paid a surprise visit to one of the capital's main railway terminals. He discovered neither the police nor metal detectors that were supposed to be inside. "You must put the situation in order and report this to me within the next three days," Medvedev told the head of Russian Railways (RZhD) Vladimir Yakunin in a phone call after his visit to Kiev Station, which left the president dissatisfied with the way the facility’s security is being handled.Security on transport was supposed to have been tightened across the country following the recent attack at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport.A suicide bomber blew himself up in January, killing 36 people and injuring more than a hundred.
