GMT 05.50: Pierre-Henry Brandet, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, has confirmed the explosions are designed to intimidate the gunman into surrendering. He said police were continuing the blasts at hourly intervals to exhaust the suspect and make him easier to capture unharmed – The Telegraph.
