The Patriarch of Constantinople is in Russia for the Trinity Sunday celebrations. He came at the invitation of the head of the Russian church Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The two spiritual authorities have conducted a special service dedicated to the holy day of Trinity. The service was held in a spiritual center of Russian Orthodoxy – the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius.

Many pilgrims attended the church celebration, including young believers from the Russian church abroad, including from the United States and Germany.

Trinity is the second – only to Easter – holiest day in Orthodox Christianity, representing the renewal of the spirit, rebirth and enlightenment.

Those phenomena are manifested in the color green, so the church leadership is adorned in green and the inside of the church is decorated with grass and birch branches.

The meeting of the religious leaders is meant to smooth the relationship of two parts of the same faith.
