More than five thousand people have marched through Red Square in a rehearsal for Wednesday's parade to commemorate the march to the frontline in 1941, when troops and volunteers left Red Square to battle the Nazis.
Many of the military personnel were dressed in wartime uniforms. One of the groups taking part this year were military archaeologists, who continue to search for the remains of soldiers killed during WW2. Several hundred veterans, including many who took part in the 1941 march, are expected to attend Wednesday's parade.
