McCain proposes US sanctions on Myanmar over Rohingya crisis
US Senators John McCain (R-Arizona) and Ben Cardin (D-Maryland) have introduced a bill to impose sanctions and travel restrictions on senior Myanmar military officials, citing the government’s treatment of the Rohingya Muslim minority. It is the second time that McCain and Cardin have teamed up on a major sanctions bill this year, after Congress approved their proposal targeting Russia in August.
