Utah Republican John Curtis wins vacant US Congress seat

In the race to fill the vacancy left by the resigning Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), Republican John Curtis defeated Democrat Kathie Allen, 58.8 percent to 26 percent on Tuesday, based on 55 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press reported. The congressional district, Utah’s third, has not been won by a Democrat since 1994. Chaffetz left Congress to work at Fox News.
