Russia, US ‘established steady cooperation’ in Syria – Lavrov
Moscow and Washington have established stable cooperation in Syria, except for the condemnation of terrorist actions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday. He cited big problems on the issue of condemning terrorists and extremists in Syria. The US says that the only thing Americans are working towards in Syria is the destruction of terrorist groups, Lavrov said in Yerevan, Armenia. However, information appears sometimes that the US “uses extremist groups” for its purposes, promoting their agenda, RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to hold telephone consultations with US President Donald Trump and some Middle East leaders about Syria. On November 22, he will discuss the issue with the Turkish and Iranian presidents in Sochi.
