Sayfullo Saipov, 29, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday in Manhattan, following a 12-count indictment that included eight counts of murder, attempted murder, violence and destruction of a motor vehicle resulting in death and providing material support to the Islamic State terrorist group. After the terrorist truck attack on a bike path on October 31 near Brooklyn, New York, Saipov was shot by police and hospitalized. He told investigators that he wanted to kill as many people as he could and intended to drive to the Brooklyn Bridge to kill even more. The suspect’s next federal court appearance is scheduled for January 23. Saipov allegedly drove a rented truck onto a bike lane on the west side of Manhattan, killing eight, and injuring a dozen others. (The Guardian)
