Russia plans to deploy new missile attack warning system in Crimea

Russia has created a full coverage radar system of warning of a missile attack, the chairman of the board of directors and general designer of the RTI concern, Sergey Boyev, said on Thursday. “We created the full coverage peripheral radar system unparalleled in the past,” TASS quoted him as saying. New generation radars of the Voronezh type constitute the backbone of the warning system’s ground infrastructures. A Voronezh-SM radar is to be deployed in Crimea in coming years, Boyev said, answering a question if the deployment is being planned for 2018–2019.
