Russia deploys new S-400 missile battalion for Moscow air defense
A new air-defense battalion armed with the most advanced S-400 Triumf missile systems will go on combat duty next week to defend Moscow and Russia’s Central Industrial District, the Defense Ministry said on Friday. The new unit is expected to assume combat duty in the Moscow Region on December 6-7, the ministry said, as cited by TASS. The S-400 Triumf is the most advanced long-range anti-aircraft missile system, which went into service in Russia in 2007. It can engage targets from a distance of 400km and at an altitude of up to 30km.
