4.2-magnitude quake hits central Italy
A magnitude-4.2 earthquake occurred overnight in central Italy on Monday, RIA Novosti reported Monday, citing the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology. The quake was followed by about 15 aftershocks, with the strongest at 2.1 magnitude. The center was registered at a depth of 8km between provinces of Rieti and L’Aquila. No damage was reported in the area near the city of Amatrice, which was almost completely destroyed after a strong earthquake on August 24, 2016.
