EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini has called for Palestinian “restraint” over an expected announcement by US President Donald Trump recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, AFP said. Speaking by phone with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Mogherini reiterated the EU’s commitment to a two-state solution, and its stance that the status of Jerusalem should be settled by negotiations. “Mogherini called for restraint in any reaction to the expected announcement and welcomed the commitment by President Abbas to call for any demonstrations to remain peaceful,” according to an EU statement on Wednesday.
