Israeli police preparing for a Palestinian “day of rage” on Friday have imposed no special restrictions on access for worshippers to the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Police presence was increased, but no indication of unrest was reported, according to Reuters. Palestinian factions have called for demonstrations in response to US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Islamist group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, has urged Palestinians to launch a new uprising.
