Israel arrests over 30 Palestinians, Hamas leader in W. Bank raids
Israeli troops conducted raids in the West Bank overnight on Tuesday and arrested 32 Palestinians for suspected involvement in terrorism activities and violent rioting, the Times of Israel reported. Among those detained in Ramallah was Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a Hamas leader in the West Bank and one of the group’s founding members, according to the Shin Bet security service. He is suspected of “involvement in promoting and advancing Hamas’ activities in the West Bank,” it said. Last week, Hamas called for a new intifada, or uprising, over the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
