The UN Security Council is discussing an Egyptian-drafted resolution that would require the US to rescind its declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, AP reports. The US is certain to veto the resolution, which names no country, but expresses “deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem.” It also stresses that “Jerusalem is a final status issue to be resolved through negotiations.” The draft resolution affirms that “any decisions and actions which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition” of Jerusalem “have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded.”
