1 killed, 12 injured in knife attack in Beijing mall

One woman was killed and 12 people were injured by a knife-wielding attacker at a shopping mall in downtown Beijing. The incident took place in Joy City, the biggest mall in the Xidan area of the Chinese capital. Police arrested a 35-year-old male suspect from the northern province of Henan. The man said he attacked people “to express his discontent”, police said, adding that the man’s surname is Zhu.
