Expected changes to the Turkish constitution will be fully implemented with the presidential elections scheduled for November 2019, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday. It comes as an apparent response to calls for early polls. The president’s comments came after the head of the nationalist MHP party suggested holding presidential elections in August this year, Reuters reports. Turkish voters narrowly backed a plan last year to change the constitution and grant the president sweeping powers. The changes are due to come into effect at the next elections.
