N. Korea nuclear & missile test shutdown welcomed by EU, UK & Germany
North Korea’s decision to suspend its ballistic missile and nuclear tests has been welcomed by British, German, and EU officials. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the move was a step in the right direction, but Pyongyang must disclose its complete nuclear and missile program “in a verifiable way.” Britain hailed the decision as a positive step, adding it hopes it indicates efforts to negotiate in “good faith.” Echoing the sentiment, the EU called for an “irreversible denuclearization” of North Korea. EU Foreign Affairs chief Federica Mogherini welcomed the move and offered support to next week’s summit between North and South Korea by “sharing our own experience of negotiations for denuclearization.”
