2 US Ospreys, F-35B stealth fighter make emergency landings in Japan
Two US military Osprey aircraft made emergency landings at the airport on Amami Island in southwestern Japan on Wednesday afternoon, Kyodo reported, citing a government source. The tilt-rotor transport aircraft deployed at US Marine Corps Air Station Futenma on the Okinawa main island landed at Amami Airport on the nearby island in Kagoshima Prefecture. No injuries were reported and the aircraft were not damaged, according to the source. The US forces told Japan’s Defense Ministry that the aircraft landed because a warning light came on in one of them. Checks of the two Ospreys found no abnormalities. On Tuesday morning, an F-35B cutting-edge stealth fighter of the US Marine Corps made an emergency landing at a base of the Air Self-Defense Force in Fukuoka Prefecture, the Yomiuri Shimbun said, adding that there has been no report of injury or property damage.
