UK envoy says briefing arranged by Russia, Syria at OPCW is ‘stunt’
Britain’s ambassador to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) described a briefing arranged by Russia and Syria at the organization’s premises on Thursday as a stunt, Reuters reports. Several Syrians have been brought from Douma, where the OPCW is investigating possible use of chemical weapons in an attack on April 7. Ambassador Peter Wilson said any witnesses should be interviewed by OPCW investigators instead. The envoy said in a statement that Britain and its allies would not attend, adding that “the OPCW is not a theater.” Damascus says no chemical attack took place in Douma.
