Milo Dukanovic sworn in as president of Montenegro
Former prime minister of Montenegro Milo Dukanovic has been sworn in as the country’s president. The 56-year-old leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro won in the first round of the elections held in April, gaining over 50 percent of the vote. Since the start of his presidential campaign, Dukanovic was touted by the media as the election favorite. Following the election, Dukanovic said that EU integration was a priority for Montenegro, which is home to some 630,000 people, adding that the nation hopes to join the union in 2025.
