Hundreds join rally for Russian-language schools in Latvia
Hundreds joined a march in the center of Riga to support Russian-language schools in Latvia. The event was held under the slogan: ‘For Russian schools, for the right to learn in native language,’ as the government wants to switch the language of the education system to Latvian. The rally was also linked to Children’s Day, celebrated in Russia on June 1. Around 500,000 Russian nationals live in Latvia, which amounts to around a quarter of the population.
