India successfully test-fires nuclear-capable ICBM

India’s military has successfully tested the Agni-5 long-range ballistic missile off the Odisha coast in the Bay of Bengal. The missile reportedly has a range of between 5,000km and 8,000km, according to various sources, and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead weighing between one and 1.5 tons. It was the sixth test of the Agni-5 missile since 2012. All tests have been successful so far, according to the Indian military. The missile has not yet entered service, and no date has been revealed for it to be made operational.
