Iran to respect nuclear deal ‘as long as its interests preserved’ – president
Tehran will continue to respect its nuclear agreement with world powers as long as its interests are preserved, President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday in a speech in Switzerland. The United States withdrew in May from the 2015 agreement. Under the deal, world powers agreed to lift sanctions on Iran in return for curbs to its nuclear program. Iran has asked European countries to offer new economic measures to offset the impact of a return of US sanctions. Iran said its foreign minister would meet counterparts from US allies Britain, France and Germany, as well as Russia and China, in Vienna on Friday to discuss ways of maintaining the nuclear deal, Reuters reports.
