Sanctions against Russia over Ukraine extended for 6 months – EU
The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia over Ukraine for another six months. The EU said in a statement on Thursday that the 28 member states took the decision “unanimously,” AP reports. The move comes less than two weeks ahead of a planned summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump. However, the latest extension of sanctions on Thursday had been widely expected. The sanctions, first imposed in 2014, center on the financial, energy and defense sectors.
