Gunmen storm governor’s office in Iraqi Kurdistan, wound police officer
Three gunmen opened fire as they entered the governor’s office in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, on Monday. The attackers were members of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), Erbil's military commander Nabil Abdul Hamid told local media. The gunmen made their way to the third floor of the building and began shooting from the windows. The compound is surrounded by security forces fighting the assailants. At least one policeman was wounded in a shootout.
