Russia’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Greek Ambassador to Moscow Andreas Friganas to hand over a note advising of tit-for-tat measures in response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats. The move followed “Athens’ unfriendly actions against Russian diplomats and citizens this July,” the ministry said on Monday. On July 11, the Greek Kathimerini daily quoted diplomatic sources saying that Athens had decided to expel two Russian diplomats and ban another two from entering the country. According to the daily, the Greek authorities accused the diplomats of interfering in the country’s domestic affairs and undermining its national security. Greek cabinet spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos later confirmed information about the expulsion of diplomats, TASS reported.
