An Israeli Arab man who was suspected of trying to stab a policeman was shot to death in Jerusalem’s Muslim Quarter on Friday afternoon, the Haaretz daily reported, citing Israeli police. It said officers were dispatched to the Old City on Friday afternoon following an initial report of a suspected stabbing attack. According to officials, the man had approached several policemen and tried to stab one of them. Policemen then fired at the man, resulting in his death. An Israeli ID card was found on the suspect at the scene. The man was a 30-year-old resident of the Arab-majority northern city of Umm al-Fahm, the report said.
