Israel, Russia finding ‘more common ground’ – PM Netanyahu

Israel and Russia have been finding more common ground recently, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday, speaking on the dynamics of relations between the two states. They do not agree on everything, but “there are more and more aspects on which our opinions coincide,” TASS quoted him as saying in Vilnius, Lithuania. A lot of Jews from Russia have come to Israel, “which became a kind of humanitarian bridge in terms of language and culture,” the PM said. The relations between Israel and Russia have transformed, he noted. Netanyahu added, however, that achieving full mutual understanding, is not entirely realistic because “we live in a very complex world.” During his visit to the Baltic state, Netanyahu said he “intended to counterbalance the EU’s ‘unfriendly approach to Israel’ through direct contact with European leaders,” Haaretz daily wrote on Friday.
