Brazil’s Bolsonaro less than percentage point away from securing presidency – first results
Far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro has secured 49.02 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results announced by Brazil’s election authorities after counting about 54 percent of the ballots. He would need a simple majority to win the country’s highest office in the first round. Left-wing candidate Fernando Haddad has 26.09 percent, the preliminary results showed.
