Moscow is keeping a close watch on the developments in Libya and believes that peaceful, political settlement is the sole way to resolve the situation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. “We are watching the Libya developments very closely,” TASS quoted him as saying on Friday. “No doubt, we believe that the main thing is that any actions should not lead to a new bloodshed,” Peskov noted. “We also consider it necessary to continue all possible efforts for fully settling the situation by peaceful, political means.” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was flying to eastern Libya to meet eastern commander Khalifa Haftar. The previous day, his forces began an offensive to take control of the capital Tripoli currently held by an internationally recognized government.
