NYC court says former Rep. Anthony Weiner must register as sex offender
Former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner has been ordered to register as a sex offender over his conviction for sending obscene material to a 15-year-old girl. He pled guilty in May 2017 to transferring obscene material to a minor, and is currently serving the remaining weeks of a 21-month prison term for the illicit online contact. Weiner spent almost 12 years in Congress, and twice ran unsuccessfully for mayor of New York when multiple reports that he had sent explicit images to women emerged and derailed his career. On Friday, a New York City judge ordered him to register as a level-one sex offender for at least 20 years.
