UN-backed Libya govt issue warrant for arrest of general Haftar
Libya’s unity government has issued an arrest warrant for strongman general Khalifa Haftar and six of his officers, on accusations of ordering deadly air strikes against civilian populations. Two weeks ago, Haftar and his forces launched an offensive on Tripoli where the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) is seated. The escalation has already seen 205 people killed and 913 wounded, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). More than 25,000 civilians were also displaced, the International Organization for Migration said.
