Moscow has called for a ceasefire in Libya, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said on Wednesday. Russia is asking to “restore a dialogue and political efforts” promoted by the United Nations and supported by Moscow, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying. He was answering a question on whether Russia plans to call on the self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to stop its advance on the Libyan capital, Tripoli. Kheiri Al Tamimi, the head of Haftar’s office, on Wednesday attended the high-profile Moscow Conference on International Security, organized by the Russian military. The LNA is planning to take Tripoli in two or three weeks, Sputnik quoted him as saying.
