Oscar-nominated director John Singleton dies at 51
Producer and acclaimed director John Singleton passed away in Los Angeles after his family made the “agonizing decision” to take him off life support, according to a statement released to the media on Monday.
Singleton, 51, had been in a medically coma after suffering a stroke. Over the course of almost 30 years, he has directed and produced a number of films and TV shows, receiving two Oscar nominations for ‘Boyz n the Hood’ (1991). Singleton is survived by his children Justice, Maasai, Hadar, Cleopatra, Selenesol, Isis and Seven.
