‘Very good conversation’: Trump, Abe discuss N. Korea, trade in phone call
US President Donald Trump said on Monday he had spoken with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about North Korea and trade, giving no details about their talk. “Very good conversation!” the president tweeted.
Abe said he and Trump agreed completely on the need for North Korea to promptly denuclearize. “I completely agreed with President Trump in all respects,” Abe told reporters after a phone call with the US leader. “Going forward, the US and Japan will respond together.”
North Korea fired several “unidentified short-range projectiles” into the sea off its east coast on Saturday, prompting the South to urge its neighbour to “stop acts that escalate military tension on the Korean peninsula,” Reuters reported.
