Car bomb blast targets foreign aid group in Kabul – officials

A car bomb targeted an international aid organization in an upscale area of the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday, security officials said.

The attack, which happened on the third day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, targeted the office of non-profit Counterpart International in the Shahr Naw area of Kabul.

Nine people had been taken to hospital with injuries, according to a Health Ministry spokesman, Wahidullah Mayar.

The Interior Ministry said initially that there was sporadic gunfire in the area. The site of the explosion was close to the Attorney General’s office, Reuters reported, citing a witness.
