Churches, museums and playgrounds in Germany can reopen if they meet certain conditions, Chancellor Angela Merkel has said, adding that more measures to ease the lockdown would be announced on May 6.
Merkel held a video conference with governors of Germany’s states on Thursday, at which she said the number of daily new infections needed to be reduced still further. Social-distancing rules would still have to be observed in public places to avoid a new spike in infections, the chancellor cautioned, according to Reuters.
“We need to further slow the spread of the virus,” Merkel said.
