Filmmaker Michael Moore says Donald Trump and “white men” are committing “acts of violence” with the hypothetical overturning of Roe v. Wade and Obamacare, fueling the current volatile political climate we find ourselves in.
Appearing on MSNBC over the weekend, the ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ filmmaker was asked about the recent revelation that militia members, at least one of whom appears to be quite anti-Trump, were planning on kidnapping Michigan’s governor in an attempt to ignite some sort of civil war, and he quickly turned his attention to supposed “acts of violence” being committed by those he disagrees with.
“I just want to say that there are other acts of violence that we need to be talking about leading up to this election,” he said. “Paying people $7.25 an hour is an act of violence. Going to the Supreme Court to get rid of Obamacare so that millions will be uninsured and die as a result, that is an act of violence. Saying that we want to take away Roe v. Wade when 70 percent of the country supports Roe v. Wade, and forcing women back into back-alley abortions, that is an act of violence.”
Since Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, liberals have sounded alarms when it comes to Roe v. Wade, despite the Supreme Court decision having been in place for decades and even President Trump saying “nothing is happening” with regards to the groundbreaking law.
Also on rt.com By poking fun at Karens, gay people & the woke, comedian Bill Burr finally injected some much needed life into the dreadful SNLWhen it comes to Obamacare, the left has also provoked a considerable amount of fear, saying millions will lose their insurance if it is overturned – ignoring the fact that the legislation itself led to many losing their healthcare coverage, and the supposed healthcare reform is not even close to the universal coverage system the Democrats pitched when it was originally pushed through.
Moore, like oh so many other liberal celebrities, blames both Trump and “white men” for these “acts of violence.”
“And who is doing this?” the filmmaker said. “These white men, Trump, are committing the acts of violence and we need to see them as that, and I think that if we kind of wrap our heads around that and realize that we’re the majority, that Biden and Harris are out there and they are telling us that they are going to do things for the people. Don’t we all believe, first of all, just with the coronavirus that we’ll be in better shape come January?”
Before we move on from Moore, let’s just quickly note that the man who made his name by protesting the wars in the Middle East is now advocating for a candidate (Biden) who is arguing for a continued US troop presence there, and criticizing a sitting president (Trump) who has at least made a plan to potentially leave, having vowed numerous times to bring troops home in the foreseeable future.
Moore is one of many celebrities to let their Trump Derangement Syndrome take their political rhetoric to a frightening level. Outspoken public figures including Johnny Depp, Kathy Griffin, and Snoop Dogg have spent years fantasizing about the death of the president, while others have openly celebrated violence against conservatives, such as Bette Midler’s glee after Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) was attacked by a neighbor. That’s without mentioning the constant, empty talk of white supremacy apparently being evident in anyone and everyone who dares to cast a vote for any candidate without a ‘D’ next to their name.
While many can swipe these people to the side as irrelevant, they are significant voices to a younger generation that religiously follows them on social media. The left’s rhetoric is driven by celebrities who blur the lines between activist and artist – and just look at where politics stand today. Black Lives Matter and Antifa protesters jump onto the streets in major cities, which have fallen victim to rioting, looting, and even murder. Trump’s most fervent critics are living in a fantasy in which they are under some sort of dictatorship where their very rights are being stripped away, but most of what upsets talking heads like Moore, who speak out against Trump and “white men,” are hypothetical scenarios that have not even happened.
Also on rt.com Be careful! Cycling champ’s fate shows that tweeting emojis in support of Trump might cost you your jobThis rhetoric can go beyond the left. Speaking about potential political decisions as “acts of violence” or openly celebrating violence against those you disagree with not only runs the chance of radicalizing one’s base, but also encourages extremists on the opposing side looking for any chance to also take to the streets and fight some vague battle for the ‘heart’ of America (see: the clashes between left and right-wing activists recently with nothing better to do on weekends).
These same celebrities who so openly push for violence and bail out criminals through organized and questionable funds that claim to protect protesters, but also allow criminals to walk the streets, refuse to come out and condemn the rioting and looting happening with the same passion they use to speak about supposed vague ‘white supremacy’. Try finding a liberal celebrity who will even acknowledge the extreme nature of BLM protests or Antifa actions. It won’t happen. You will instead find them talking as Moore does, preaching about “acts of violence” by an opposing side and encouraging people to think on these same pathetic terms.
