In the latest sign that nothing is sacred as far as US history and its monuments are concerned, the liberals are now warning the public over the content of the nation’s most significant founding documents.
As if to lend credence to the far-right conspiracy theory that the woke mob is determined to cancel the United States into oblivion, the National Archives website has attached “Harmful Language Alert” notices to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights.
The stated reason for the caveat is the purported “racist, sexist, ableist, misogynistic/misogynoir, and xenophobic opinions and attitudes,” as well as a discriminatory attitude towards “views on sexuality, gender, religion, and more…” purportedly contained in these historical documents. Who could have imagined, upon reading that list of egregious offenses, that the drafters of those famous documents – the Jeffersons, Hamiltons and the Paines – were such shameless sociopaths?
Not wanting to rush to judgment, however, I downloaded digitized versions of the original documents and gave myself a refresher course. Perhaps the 245-year-old views, painstakingly written in cursive style with quill and ink, really are as outdated as the yellowing parchment they were written upon.
Let’s begin with the nation’s official birth certificate, so to speak, the Declaration of Independence. Signed on July 4, 1776, this document set forth a number of reasons – 27 grievances, to be exact – why the Thirteen Colonies had decided to become independent states, free from British rule. While this formal breakup letter was not terribly kind to King George III, whom the colonists accused of “cruelty & perfidy,” it also took a swipe at the Native American inhabitants, with whom they were at constant war, referring to them as “merciless Indian savages.” For context, the colonists had accused the King of endeavoring to bring “domestic insurrections amongst us” by inciting the Indians to violence.

However, it seems odd that after 245 years, the Democrats, whose history of civil rights is just as checkered, if not more so, than the Republicans, have chosen this particularly explosive period in US history to rush to the defense of the American Indian population.
My hunch is that, fresh off the “mostly peaceful protests” that left a billion-dollar trail of destruction across the US in the wake of George Floyd’s death, the Democrats are no less guilty of inciting “domestic insurrections” than was King George back in the day. In other words, the Democrats, not unlike their hearty endorsement of the Black Lives Matter protests, even at their most destructive, are now virtue signaling to another group of minorities with more of an eye to the ballot box than the confessional box.
Meanwhile, aside from the mention of the Indian “savages” were the signatures of 56 dead white men (RIP!), which also help to explain the need for the ridiculous warning labels. After all, back in June the National Archives Rotunda, the grandiose building that houses the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in the heart of Washington, DC, was accused of teeming with “structural racism.” In fact, the level of white supremacy that screams out from this aging structure makes it a wonder it has not collapsed from the reverberations by now.
In a report put out by the Archives itself, the need was discussed to provide “trigger warnings” for visitors in an effort to “forewarn audiences of content that may cause intense physiological and psychological symptoms for people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other anxiety disorders.” It almost sounds like those medical warnings that visitors to amusement parks might receive before they enter a roller coaster ride or a haunted house. Except in this case, the ‘haunted house’ is possessed by the spirits of those deceased “wealthy white men,” for whom an exorcism is eagerly underway across the land.
To the eternal credit of the signatories, however, the document they signed did contain the famous line that eloquently states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Unsurprisingly, the liberals failed to apply a smiley sticker to that uplifting phrase, which, more than any other, has guaranteed that Americans of every race, creed and gender choice are able to fulfill their life dreams without prejudice or exception.
Moving on to the US Constitution, once again, aside from the scribbled signatures from a bunch of long deceased white men, it is hard to see the need for a “language alert” to accompany this document. However, passing to the Bill of Rights, which provides for the 10 amendments to the Constitution, things start to become clearer, at least as far as the confused liberal mindset is concerned.
Considering how strenuously the Democrats have been whittling away at the First Amendment right to free speech, as evidenced by Big Tech’s non-stop suppression of opinion on social media, compounded by their intense hatred for the Second Amendment right to bear arms, and it becomes obvious what the psychobabble over “harmful language” is all about.
It’s about kickstarting a campaign designed to create the impression that America’s most treasured documents are somehow dangerous and unworthy of protection. These crazy ideas must be yanked out by the root lest they overtake America’s garden variety culture.
Today it might be ‘just’ a warning label proclaiming the dangerous influence of America’s founding documents; tomorrow it could be soldiers on the street declaring the end of liberty as well as the very documents that made it all possible. America must put an end to these foolish woke actions before they escalate into something wholly un-American, which is exactly what the left appears to be aiming for.
