Is it to garner more votes for the Democrats, as many think, or does the open border debacle suggest that America may be on the verge of some cataclysmic change, such as happened in 1917 in Russia?
Since the Democrats took control of the White House, illegal migrants have been pouring into the country. What would motivate politicians to implement such a self-defeating policy that will harm everyone equally?
This week, Fox News made a disturbing discovery that does not bode well for the American people and the future of their great nation. Since March, 160,000 illegal aliens have crossed the border into the United States, where they are then sent to various communities around the country, often without an ounce of oversight.
The leaked documents revealed that in one day alone, 128 illegal migrants were released into the country without ATD (‘Alternatives to Detention’), which requires that migrants wear a tracking device, like an ankle monitor, so that border agents can keep tabs on new arrivals.
In an age of human trafficking, drug trafficking, and terrorism, letting total strangers wander freely in your house doesn’t seem like the best idea. Indeed, such a tragically flawed approach to border security – smack in the middle of a pandemic, no less – is a disaster just waiting to happen.
Previously, many people had explained the Democratic Party’s aversion to a strong and viable border as an underhanded tactic to gain more voters. The millions of new arrivals from south of the border would tip the demographic scales in the Democrats’ favor long into the future, the argument goes. Although that could very well be the reason for the anarchy at the US-Mexico border, increasingly I am not so sure. It seems there is something far more sinister at play.
Also on rt.com Wayne Dupree: Congress should be Calling the Biden administration into hearings over the border crisisIt would be the understatement of the century to say that something strange has settled upon the American scene, and not just on the US border. Possibly in response to the shock of a Trump presidency, the Democratic Party has become radicalized by a group of so-called ‘progressives’ in its ranks. It’s even possible to say that the party has been hijacked by ‘the Squad’, a group of six left-wing Congress members led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Just as this left-wing group of fanatics entered the ranks of the Democratic Party, the country began to witness events truly out of the ordinary. In response to the killing of George Floyd by a white police officer, for example, Black Lives Matter cut a wave of destruction across the country amid cries of ‘racism’. This was not your average grassroots movement, but rather a highly coordinated, corporate-sponsored campaign – to the tune of $1 billion. It was also publicized by Democratic leaders who obediently ‘took the knee’ on behalf of the cause. The mainstream media played its part, never suggesting other possible causes for police abuse, like perhaps overstressed police forces, than ‘racism’.
It was also during this time that a level of intolerance began to infect US politics to a degree rarely seen before between the Republican and Democratic parties. Democratic Representative Maxine Waters, for example, once harangued a crowd, saying “if you see anybody from that [Trump] cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” Similar sentiments are also heard on the other side of the aisle. Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene recently floated on Telegram the idea of a ‘national divorce’ from the Democrats, because “Americans don’t like communism,” she wrote.
The intolerance is not just relegated to flesh and blood people, but to their bronze depictions as well. In an act almost as unnerving as watching books burn, monuments to various Americans – more often than not, white ones – were toppled in town squares across the nation. At the same time, the public school system, no longer concerned with teaching the rudiments of a ‘classic’ education, had become preoccupied with propagating the myth of ‘critical race theory’, which says that all white people are inherently racist.
In light of these bewildering trends happening in the United States, it might not seem so odd that the Biden administration is inviting the entire world to illegally enter the country from the Mexican backdoor. In any case, it fits a pattern of general lunacy evident of late.
Perhaps not so ironically, the world has witnessed such moments of madness before, specifically in early 1917 as Russia was sliding inexorably towards revolution and communism. Could something similar be happening in the United States, the capitalist capital of the world, where left-wing ‘progressives’ are doing everything in their power to overhaul the country with ideas that are wholly un-American? It is with those thoughts in mind that the parallels between 1917 Russia and 2021 America deserve some consideration.
In 1917, following the abdication of Nicholas II after the February Revolution, Russia was confronted with a period of tremendous upheaval and uncertainty. Under the so-called Russian Provisional Government (RPG), echoes of the tumult that is happening in the United States today are perceptible.
Just months before the Bolsheviks seized power in the October Revolution, the RPG was initiating a campaign of chaos like nothing Russia had seen before.
Also on rt.com Leaked Border Patrol documents show at least 160,000 illegal immigrants were released into the US since March – reportsFor example, as hardened criminals who had been arrested under the reign of the Romanovs were being released from prison en masse, police officers from the old regime were being killed on the street. As an American, it would be hard not to hear about that period of Russian history without considering how the Democrats ‘killed’ their own police by dramatically defunding police forces, while, at the same time, pardoning individuals who had been charged with violence and destroying property in the course of the riots. The leniency on the part of liberals towards criminals – as well as illegal migrants, some of whom, but not all, are certainly dangerous – continues today.
Another interesting parallel worth considering is the Russian bread shortage of 1917 (which some historians claim was ‘engineered’ by behind-the-scenes forces) that has been cited as the reason for the uprising against Tsar Nicholas II. While there are no bread shortages in the United States, there is something equally worrying in terms of the disruption of critical supply chains, which has never happened before in the US.
Thanks to the draconian response to the Covid-19 outbreak, which saw the Democrats locking down small businesses (and people) for long periods of time, store shelves are noticeably under-stocked as winter approaches. Meanwhile, millions of people stand to lose their jobs due to Biden’s incredibly invasive vaccine mandate, which forces people to make a choice between taking a jab or losing their jobs. Finally, just like ‘big money’ helped fund the communists’ rise to power in Russia, deep pockets are bankrolling left-leaning organizations in the US, like Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
Also on rt.com ‘Miss me yet?’ Trump trolls Biden with round-up of dire US newsAlthough these may be just coincidences, as Mark Twain once remarked, “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” With that advice in mind, we may be better prepared to consider that the United States, like Russia in 1917, is on the cusp of something altogether unexpected. Could it be the case that America is being intentionally upended by political forces inside of the country in an effort to bring about its transition into something radically new, and more in conformity with the thinking of the radical left?
Although many would shrug off such a possibility, the increasing aggressiveness of the left would behoove all Americans to reconsider the lessons of history.
