Ready, steady, go! Sporty robots perform push-ups for Putin (VIDEO)

Cadets from Suvorov Military School in St. Petersburg presented the fruit of their labor to President Vladimir Putin at the school’s robototronics workshop. Voice-commanded robots performed a warm-up and acrobatic tricks.

Footage shared on social media shows a cadet instructing two miniature robots: “Push-up position! Do push-ups three times!” The androids perform three push-ups as ordered.

However, one of them stalled and fell when the cadet told it to do a headstand, so the student had to push it upside down. While standing on their heads, the robots surprised everyone by performing leg splits. The cadets told the president that they study math, informatics, and biology extensively to develop and program the robots.

Putin visited Suvorov Military School during a working trip to his native St. Petersburg on Thursday. Suvorov Military Schools were created in 1943 as a type of boarding school that offers secondary education and military-style training for boys 14–18.

Modern cadets also participate in after-school activities, like robotic technology, scale modeling, sports, and theater. The schools are named after Aleksandr Suvorov, the great 18th-century Russian military commander.
