‘Everyone does foolish things’: Russian LAWMAKER filmed SHOOTING RIFLE in residential area
Automatic gunfire scared residents in the town of Kamyshlov in Russia’s Urals on Saturday morning. Bizarrely, it was a national lawmaker who fired the shots – for no obvious reason.
Footage captured from inside an apartment shows a group of people standing in the backyard of a residential house as one of the men suddenly fires several rounds into the air.
Типичные депутатские объяснения pic.twitter.com/ycKsSDucVl

A separate video suggests that police later showed up at the scene, but no official statement was provided in relation to the matter.
As the footage surfaced online, local media identified the shooter as Dmitry Ionin, a State Duma lawmaker who represents the Sverdlovsk region of the Urals. The official, who was visiting Kamyshlov at the time, initially denied the allegations and insisted that his aide had discharged the shots with a “toy rifle.” However, as the video continued to circulate on social media, he eventually admitted his own wrongdoing.

However, did not offer any reason for the stunt. “I was just given a rifle. I checked that it was supposed to shoot with blanks, then fired. I did not think there would be problems with that,” the lawmaker said, adding that the weapon belonged to his fellow local politician.
Although he was not charged by police, the official later admitted that he had done the wrong thing, and added that “everyone does foolish things [sometimes].”
