An enemy drone has been detected and destroyed while flying towards the Russian capital, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Thursday morning, clarifying that the attempted strike resulted in no casualties or damage on the ground.
The UAV was shot down over the Voskresensky district to the southeast of the capital, the mayor said in a Telegram post.
The Defense Ministry said it had detected and destroyed a plane-type UAV, preventing yet another “attempted terrorist attack by the Kiev regime.”
Flights in and out of Moscow’s three main airports – Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Vnukovo – were suspended as a precaution at the time of the incident.
The Russian capital has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian attack drones in recent months, including a coordinated air raid on Wednesday, during which multiple UAVs were downed across seven Russian regions.
