WATCH Russian military strike Ukrainian armor during Kursk incursion – MOD
The Russian Defense Ministry has released a video showcasing strikes on Ukrainian armored vehicles during an assault on Kursk Region which Kiev’s military launched early on Tuesday.
The video features a compilation of footage from surveillance drones, showing multiple Ukrainian armor units advancing through wooded areas and open fields. The invading force apparently included several US-made Stryker armored personnel carriers, various armored cars and other hardware.
The Ukrainian armor came under fire, with multiple vehicles sustaining hits and becoming disabled or destroyed, the video shows. The group was apparently subjected to both artillery and aerial strikes, with at least one Lancet loitering munition featured in the compilation.
Another video shared by the MOD shows Russian ballistic missile strikes on two Buk-M1 anti-aircraft systems. The systems were found in Ukraine’s Sumy Region, which borders Russia’s Kursk Region, as they were apparently providing cover to the invading force.
One of the systems was hit in the open with a cluster warhead, with the strike sending its anti-aircraft missiles into uncontrolled flight; they ultimately detonated. Another vehicle was hit with a high-explosive warhead as its crew tried to conceal the system in shrubbery.
According to Moscow’s estimates, Kiev deployed some 300 servicemen, 11 tanks and around 20 armored vehicles to attack across the border into Kursk Region early on Tuesday. Around half of the invading force’s hardware was destroyed over the course of the day, according to Moscow’s estimates.
