A new project for active and talented students from different countries has been launched in Russia to help them develop their leadership skills and accomplish socially significant goals.

The first meeting of the ‘International Club of Young Leaders’ was held at a branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration’s (RANEPA) in Vladimir last week.

According to the organizers, some 476 applications to join the club were submitted through social networks. Initially, it was planned to include about 40 people, but ultimately 82 students, including from Africa, China, and Central Asia, were approved.

At the same time, all of the applicants will be able to remotely connect to the broadcasts of the club’s future events, the organizers say.

A major goal of the new club is to help talented young people develop skills and civic positions, as well as to teach them how to preserve and popularize traditional values.

The first speakers at the club were Russian MP and journalist Anatoly Wasserman, and a graduate of RANEPA’s Vladimir branch, actor Andrey Sviridov.

The participants were greeted via video link by the authorized representative of the Parliament of Tajikistan in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly, Abdukhalil Gafurzoda.

A video address was also recorded by the Chairperson of the Youth Parliament under the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Alina Retkova. She wished success to all the club members and said that Belarusian youth is ready to cooperate with their peers.

The head of the ‘Russia-Africa’ public association, Pascal Fatso, advised young people to never stop dreaming, even if they make mistakes, saying “Try and listen to the elders in this club, learn from them!”

The organizers say that the new platform is not only for scientific discussions, but also for realizing socially significant projects.

The club members have already put forward several initiatives they would like to accomplish. In the next six months, they will be able to attend lectures and master classes by public figures, as well as guided tours by Russian regional enterprises.
