Russian drone hits Ukrainian military vehicle in Kharkov Region (VIDEO)
Russian troops have successfully hit a pickup truck belonging to Kiev’s forces in the northeast Ukrainian Kharkov Region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday as it published a video of the strike.
A short clip captured by a camera mounted on a first-person-view (FPV) kamikaze drone shows the unmanned aerial vehicle zoning in on its target and rapidly approaching it as the truck moves along a dirt road through a small wooded area near a snow-covered field.
It is unclear what type of vehicle was destroyed in the attack. The Russian ministry did not provide further details on the operation, except for saying that a unit serving with the ‘North’ group of forces was behind the successful strike.
According to the ministry’s daily report, Kiev has lost up to 65 soldiers as well as an armored combat vehicle, a car, and several artillery pieces in the fighting against the ‘North’ group of forces over the past 24 hours.
The ‘North’ group of forces is fighting against Kiev’s troops in Kharkov Region as well as repelling the Ukrainian invasion into the Russian Kursk border region. Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Kiev was suffering huge losses in the area. At one point, the Ukrainian military lost over 300 troops there in a single day, according to the ministry’s data.
In total, Moscow has estimated that throughout the military operations in Kursk, Ukraine has lost more than 43,310 servicemen, 253 tanks, 194 infantry fighting vehicles, 136 armored personnel carriers, 1,316 armored combat vehicles, and 1,179 vehicles since early August when it launched its cross-border incursion.
Additionally, Russian forces are said to have destroyed some 324 artillery pieces, 42 multiple launch rocket system launchers, including 11 HIMARS and six MLRS supplied by the US, 13 anti-aircraft missile launchers, and seven transport and loading vehicles, among other equipment.
