Four killed in Russian region after Ukrainian drone attack – governor

Four civilians were killed in Russia’s Belgorod Region in two separate Ukrainian drone attacks on moving cars, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Sunday. One happened near the village of Grafovka, and another on the Dvuluchnoye-Urazovo highway.

“A drone struck a moving car at the entrance to Grafovka village. The three men inside the vehicle were killed,” Gladkov wrote in a Telegram post, expressing condolences to their families.

No further details were immediately provided about the identities of the victims.

Earlier, Gladkov reported another Ukrainian drone attack on the Dvuluchnoye-Urazovo highway in the Valuysky district, approximately 30km from the Ukrainian border. A woman died from her injuries before medical help could arrive. Another woman, who was driving, sustained barotrauma and hand injuries. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The Belgorod region, along with the town of Shebekino, which borders Ukraine, has been frequently targeted by drone, mortar, and rocket attacks since the start of the conflict in early 2022. The following year, the town was partially evacuated due to intense shelling.

In January, the Russian Foreign Ministry released a report stating that at least 5,399 civilians suffered from “Ukrainian aggression” on Russian territory last year, with 809 killed, including 51 children – the youngest being a four-month-old girl.

On average, at least 15 civilians from border regions — including Belgorod, Kursk, Kherson, Bryansk, and Donetsk — were reported as victims of Ukrainian military activity daily.
