The presidential race in Russia has entered a new stage as the deadline for registering has passed. Former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and independent candidate Andrey Bogdanov were the last ones to submit the necessary paperwork.
The other candidates for the presidency include favourite Dmitry Medvedev, Communist Gennady Zyuganov and Liberal Democrat Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Meanwhile, RT political commentator Peter Lavelle believes front-runner Dmitry Medvedev will have to learn how to campaign. One-and-a-half months remain before Russia's presidential vote.
