Russia won’t allow threats against it – Putin
The Russian Armed Forces must give a prompt and adequate response to any threats of use of force against the country, President Vladimir Putin has stated.
"The state military machinery must guarantee peace, interests, and sovereignty of our country. It must rapidly and appropriately respond to any threats, no matter where they may come from," Putin told graduates of military academies and universities on Thursday.The president underlined the creation of modern Armed Forces and the strengthening of security in the country “are our absolute priorities.” He added that in its defense policy Russia will focus on “most up-to-date trends” in the military industry. Addressing young officers, Putin also pointed out that “a modern commander absolutely must keep abreast of the times”, be able to use the newest weapons and hardware and teach that to subordinates.
